Up to four players can join a single session through online matchmaking. Given that the game is available on Xbox Game Pass, there’s likely to be loads of players jumping into the action. The news is good: Anyone who buys The Ascent will be able to enjoy online co-op with friends. However, there’s no true cross-platform play, as the game isn’t available on other platforms like the PlayStation 5. In addition to couch co-op and online multiplayer, The Ascent also supports cross-play between the the Xbox Series X|S and PC.
